The family is originally German, but the Bordeaux company was founded by the British branch. Grandfather Allan bought Château Palmer in Margaux in 1938 with three other families. The Sichel family is still co-owner of this now world-famous Château. In 1961, his son Peter Allan, the father of the current management, settled with wife Diana in the Bordeaux region through the purchase of Château Angludet, also in Margaux. He developed the company further in 1967 with the construction of a winery, the Cave Bel Air, in the Entre-Deux-Mers area.
